There’s nothing else on the water like the Biffle-O (Patent Pending). Zilch. Zero. Nada. That’s hard to say in the world of soft plastics where most “new” baits are simply a tweak here and there, or even an almost exact copy of a competitor’s bait.
The Biffle-O is truly unique in form and function. Bodies are hollow tubes and come with all the superior hookset percentages afforded by such designs. But it is the Biffle-O’s tail that is so unique and the secret to this bait’s success. The tail is half the tube’s circumference at the point where it comes off the body and it maintains the concave shape virtually all the way to the tip of it’s long tail. The tail’s cupped shape and flexibility makes it come alive the second it hits the water because everything causes it to move. You just can’t hold it still, even at rest.
Bass professional Tommy Biffle, the bait’s namesake and inventor, likes to fish the bait to both extremes – rigging it weightless and using it on top as a twitch bait and putting it behind a Carolina rig for dragging in deep water. But my favorite way to fish the Biffle-O is rigged with a
Little Pek Jig inside. This makes for a useful alternative to a shakey head worm.
